Aegis DIY Tube Headphone Amplifier

Hi everyone, I am inspired by all the great Aegis amp build here! I am a noob and want to try my hand at building one. Does anyone have a spare set of PCBs I can purchase from them?

Just make note of this post, chassis are going to be unavailable for a few months.

Sorry… just one more and I’ll stop… promise. I’ve just been sitting back enjoying the Aegis with the AC, which sounds incredible as ever and grabbed this shot while chilling. I think this sums up what I wanted in the gloss finish. I knew those years polishing the car as a kid would come in useful :L3000:

This is looking incredible! :)
I hope there is an Aegis waiting for me at some point in the future. Maybe next year. :)

Thanks 🙏

From what I've read, it goes great with the Caldera... I still have my Elites and they sound amazing with the Aegis and, the ZMF AC, which I was listening too at the time of that photo, sounds awesome 😎

Latest upgrade…. Out of 4 metres of leather I had just enough to upgrade my drinks coaster to double sided leather. The drinks taste much better for it and go down faster 😂

This is best looking Aegis I have seen! Where did you get chassis for the amp? It looks different.
Thanks…The chassis is a one of a kind (well, two actually) that I designed and built myself from scratch 😀.

So many alterations, changes, from the original chassis… both in terms of size, features and materials. No plans for any more unfortunately.

Time for me to start my Aegis journey by purchasing parts! @Rascal123 was kind enough to give me a set of PCBs to get me going!

Depending on how long it takes me, if Landfall cases are still unavailable I might venture to design my own case...It's been years since I've touched CAD during my engineering degree, so it might be time to see if I still have the chops.

Just be aware that chassis from landfall won’t be available till late summer. They’re closed till late summer.

Rolled in Shu Guang WEKT88 Plus tubes

Impressions to follow (but sounds good out the gate)

Man, those are some funky shaped KT88s. I don't think I've seen anything like those. I kind of dig it.

Tube curiousity has wreaked havoc on many wallets, mine included.

Dave did a nice job on this. Beautiful brushing.

If that is anodized, note that the anodized layer is not conductive. If the mating faces of the side panels and the top plate were not masked and are completely anodized, you will need to sand / grind away some of the anodized layer to expose the underlying metal such that the side panels make ground connections with the top and bottom panels. You will have to do the same on the underside edge of the top and bottom plates, again, a metal-to-metal connection. Also, at the two holes where ground connections are made to the chassis, you will need to sand / grind away the anodized layer on the interior. All of this can be done with a Dremel tool.
